About Ideaspark Interiors
Notes on rooms, materials and making a home your own
Ideaspark Interiors is a small publication about the inside of ordinary houses. It covers the decisions people make when they are arranging a room, choosing a colour, picking a material or bringing a tired piece of furniture back into use, and it tries to explain why those decisions work rather than simply showing a finished result.
The writing is organised into five categories. Rooms is about arrangement and about working out what a space is actually for. Colour & Light is about the way daylight, lamps and undertone decide what a colour does once it is on the wall. Materials covers wood, fibre and finish, and where each one wears. Small Projects collects jobs that fit into a weekend. Salvage is about buying secondhand and repairing what already exists.
There is a consistent bias running through all of it, which is worth stating plainly. The pieces here favour working with what is already in the room over replacing it, they favour measuring over guessing, and they favour living with an arrangement for a few days before committing to it. Most of the advice costs time rather than money, which is deliberate.
Nothing on this site is a sales page. There are no products recommended by name, no ratings, and no services offered behind the writing. Articles are filed under the site name rather than under an individual byline, and every piece is written to be useful to someone doing the work themselves.
The best places to start are the archive, which lists everything in one place, or any of the five category pages linked from the navigation above.
